About the Teacher's Resource Books

The Teacher's Resource Book includes four pages of resources for each volume in the series. These pages include a teacher's page, an explore page, a reflect page, and an apply page.
  • The Teacher's Page

    The teacher's page has three features:

    1. A Short Synopsis of the story
    2. Chart that shows how the material can be easily aligned to the IB
    Primary Year's Program
    3. Guiding Questions for teachers that can be used in class

  • The Explore Page

    The Explore page is designed to get the students to explore a particular theme that was raised in the story. Students are guided to brainstorm, research and share their ideas about the particular theme.

    1. The Introduction provides teachers and students with the context
    from the story that the resource page will explore.
    2. Each resource page is split into two or three parts. In Part A,
    student will brainstorm and share what they know. In Part B,
    students will organize their ideas. In Part C, students will share
    their ideas with others if space permits.

  • The Reflect Page

    The Reflect page is designed to get the students connect to a particular theme in the story. On these pages, students are encouraged to reflect and think about their own personal experiences and interests related to the theme of the resource page.

    1. The Introduction provides teachers and students with the context
    from the story that the resource page will explore.
    2. Each resource page is split into two or three parts. In Part A,
    student will brainstorm and share what they know. In Part B,
    students will organize their ideas. In Part C, students will share
    their ideas with others if space permits.

  • The Apply Page

    The Apply page is designed to work on students researching and writing skills. Students will be guided to show what they know and then look for additional information by looking in books, encyclopedias, dictionaries or on the internet. Students will then share what they know and have learned with others.
